Champions of Safety (Excerpt)
ABATE of SC came to the Statehouse for their lobby day. ABATE is a Motorcycle Rights Organization dedicated to maintaining the freedom to ride, providing driver training, and motorcycle safety awareness. I was honored to be asked by ABATE to present the Dennis Welborn Legislative Warrior Award to Ms. Cheryl Magoc. Ms. Magoc is the mother of the late Robert Fiacatto, who was killed on his motorcycle after being hit by a distracted driver in 2021. Ms. Magoc has worked with ABATE ever since to pass sensible legislation that would place harsher penalties on distracted driving accidents. I appreciate her efforts and the efforts of ABATE to help improve road safety.
